Coldingham Bay is located on the East Berwickshire coast just a 10 minute gentle stroll from Coldingham Village. The beach has been awarded the top Marine Conservation Society award for water quality. There are public toilets, showers and car parking. During the main holiday season the beach is patrolled by RNLI Life Guards, the first beach in Scotland to provide this valuable feature. Coldingham Bay is a perfect family destination with wide gently sloping sands surrounded by many rock pools for exploration. The Berwickshire Coastal Path crosses the beach.

Body boarding visit
We always come to Coldingham when holidaying in the area. The main beach is a beautiful crescent of sand. It’s very shallow gradient and safe for families. There are lifeguards too. There’s a good beach cafe and public toilets so you can be comfortable and get hot drinks (hot chocolate) to warm you up after a chilly dip in the sea. To the north is a short coast walk to St Abbs, to the south is a grassy knoll called Homeli Knoll. It’s a good hill for views but it’s steep so careful with those younger older or just less steady in their feet. The other side of this is a much quieter shale beach for solitude, contemplation and skimming stones.

Lovely in the early morning with few people about
A lovely unspoilt sandy beach with plenty of possibilities for traditional seaside activities . It is at the bottom of a very steep hill but a plus is the free car park . The multi-coloured beach huts add something extra to the natural scene . Obviously a lovely place to walk , with or without dog , or simply to sit and enjoy the views out to sea . Everything was closed when we visited at 10 am but I can understand that in the season it becomes quite crowded . Go early in the morning and enjoy the solitude .
