Saechsisches Industriemuseum, Saxony, Germany

4.5 (113 reviews) Friday: Spent Ranking #3 in Chemnitz Speciality Museums

Highly interesting place to visit

A lot of industrial exhibtis from Chemnitz' industrial past ("The German Manchester") are shown, most prominent the machines that were used to produce different kinds of textiles. Many of the old machines do still work and are shown in action from time to time. All in all this is a really interesting place to visit and certainly something you shouldn't miss when in Chemnitz.

Nice place to visit if you like machines
It tells you the history of the industrialization of Chemnitz in particular and Germany in general. The items are placed very creative and the description are nice written and easy to understand.

The only museum I visited in Chemnitz, but worth it!
As with most museums that I visited, students will get some discount, which really helps. The museum is really informative, with most of the explanations in English, so most of the tourists should be able to understand it. There is a showcase of how Germany Traffic Light works, as well as the textile part at the underground. Speaking of Textile Part, there's an old woman who is really kind, and went out of the way to help me understand the game located at the underground, as well as how the light experiment works. Overall, must visit if you go to Chemnitz!
