Robert - Schumann - Haus, Saxony, Germany

Great time at the museum

When my best friend visited me from Berlin, we decided to visit the Robert-Schumann-Haus because we are both musicians. We spent several hours there, learning so many interesting things and I would recommend it to everyone who enjoys music. As someone living in Zwickau I am sad that so few people seem interested in this precious piece of history. I think the museum has so much potential, we loved the time there.

    A must for music-lovers
We stayed near Zwickau because we wanted to visit this museum. We were very taken with the historic centre of Zwickau itself which is much more attractive than the guide-books lead you to expect. The Museum offers a wealth of information relating to the lives and music of Robert and Clara Schumann, and is much more interesting than the very limited Schumann Museum in Leipzig. Unusually for a museum in Germany it was free, which was a pleasant surprise and it therefore seems a little churlish to complain that one of our free audio-guides failed to work properly - I am sure if we had returned it the helpful lady at the desk she would have replaced it for us.
