Typical of the beautiful restoration of the city
Gorlitz is a stunningly restored Renaissance style city. The Barockhaus and similar around the city are in the process of restoration and many parts of the city are completed . At times it fells like Italy . there is much still to restore but when completed this will be a total must see for visitors to this part of Germany . Its on the German Polish border with easy access into Poland for cheap booze and tobacco!.

Cool scientific instruments collection
The building itself is terrific, the first floor shows how people used to live in this building (around 1800 if I am not completely mistaken), the upper floor is to a significant part devoted to the collection of scientific instruments, most of them acquired by Adolf Traugott von Gersdorff. And don't miss to have a close look at the library

Alone the library is worth the EUR 5 entry
Want to see how people lived in the Baroque period? Well, here's a chance. Most of it looks like someone just left to get coffee, so it really gets very high marks for authenticity. It also is a quirky collection of scientific stuff and the library to indicate that people then really valued science and even people who were not officially deemed scientists could somehow participate. In any case, it's very well exhibited and you can spend a nice 45-60 minutes in here.
