Captivating Experience

The Historic Green Vault was definitely a highlight on our trip. Our kids were SO sick of walking through museums and various "old town" sights of various towns so we were a little hesitant about whether this would capture their attention, but boy did it. The treasures (literal) here feel very accessibly presented and the collection is not overwhelming. I think it took about 90 minutes. In fact, we were all a little sad that we didn't also have tickets to the New Green Vault. Also, the vault rooms are kept relatively cool so this was a great activity for a 35c degree day!

Room after Room of treasures more-or-less in their original environment
The Green Vault has just been re-opened and is THE must-see of Dresden. Room after room of treasures beginning with ivory, through silver, jewels ... where each room has been restored to its original colors & materials: red, green, mirrored ... !the audioguide is free with your ticket. Be sure to reserve in advance as we couldn't get tickets until the second day of our stay.

    Ran out of time!
A must do in Dresden, wish we had allowed more time and known before just what old treasures are kept there. Think we were allowed photos, just no flash cameras, normal for museums? If we get back, would spread over two days. Even the building is worth a visit.
