Incredible and well worth a visit

World of seashells is the only seashell museum in Mauritius, and the largest one in Africa and the South Hemisphere. Its collection consists of 8,000 pieces which belongs to Mr. Le Court de Billot. The exposition consists of shells from all around the world and have been collected by the latter and his parents before him, without harming the environment and the different species of seashells. The Museum offers a lot of activities related to the story, origins, as well as the myths and legends surrounding shells. Enjoying the museum is for everyone! There is the mini laboratory for children, where they can participate in fun and educative activities, such as designing their own shells. World of seashells is the best place for anyone to learn about the treasures of the ocean.

    Eyes and mind gorgeously served!
If you wish to plunge into varied oceans and travel back three centuries without wetting your toes visit this fabulous museum. A fantastic display of shapes and colors in a sea-like decor. Front-desk warm welcome was great too. A small fee for an authentically rich experience: absolutely recommend.

    Beautiful and informative
This was a lovely short trip, walkable from our hotel in Bel Ombre. We were greeted by friendly, well informed staff (as everywhere in Mauritius) and the museum itself is beautifully and aesthetically set out. The information presented was everything we hoped for , extremely Informative but presented in an easy to absorb manner. The display of shells themselves were beautiful and the shop had gorgeous souvenirs. Would throughly recommend for a cloudy day!
