Interesting!
So if you wanna know how houses were back in the days in Mauritius (very old time) it is the place to be! the house has been completely restored and the original furniture are still there. It also has a scenic view over the ocean!

Beautiful Location and interesting Museum
We would never known about this little gem of a museum if it had not been for our pool bar waiter mentioning it when we told him we had booked a taxi for the day from the west coast of the island to the south to take in the waterfalls, the seven coloured earth landmarks. The taxi driver said it was the first time this year he had been asked to go there but more than obliged when asked. This part of the island has a very dramatic coastline with big breakers and blue sea. The Museum sits on the edge of the sea, and it is no wonder the poet Robert Hart was inspired by the views from his wonderful house made of coral.

Cottage of a poet
This is a little known free museum dedicated to the Mauritian writer and poet, appreciated by both the French and the English. The interior setting of his house has been restored and preserved a small stone cottage with a nice garden as you walk to the house. Do go to the back of the house to see the views of the beach and the sea. On display are some of his letters, books, pictures and plays. There is even a portrait of him, the person accompanying us rather cruelly said that he did not look the type who spent his time writing romantic poetry. We dropped by on our way to Rochester Falls and worth dropping by for a short while. Irritatingly a lot of the information is in French only.
