Excellent tour of the south of Mauritius
The tour of the south of Mauritius is a must. The scenery of the south is breathtaking. The birds and monkeys were a joy to see. The highlight of the tour had to be the tea factory, getting to see tea production and tasting the end product. Our driver Daren was brilliant. He was very knowledgeable and made us feel really welcome.

    Lots of Miscommunication
We booked on trip advisor and never heard from the company about what time to be ready for our hotel pick up— the description says arrive at boat at 9:15– so I ended up making an international call to find out we needed to be ready by 8:15. We waited for almost an hour, called the company two more times to be told the drivers were on their way. (What it sounded like was we were actually calling the drivers personal line and we woke them up by the way they answered the phone all groggy then realized he had forgotten us and told us he was in traffic but was actually just getting out of bed. There is no way to confirm this— but that’s what it came off as.) Once the drivers got here, things got a little better. They are young guys who were very sweet but also wrong about the information they gave us. We were told our group would have the boat all to themselves— so we were surprised when there were 20 other people on the boat— we were told we would be home by a certain time, we were told a lot things... On the catamaran, they ran out of food really fast and alcohol towards the end of the trip and out of ice really early on the trip (they only bring a tiny ice chest of it). It’s really hot out and cold drinks are nice to have— but since there’s no ice, warm drinks it was... The snorkeling was pretty minimal. About 30 minutes but they take you to a spot where the current is so strong that it’s a full on work out just trying not to get swept away from the boat. Also, the only thing to really see was sand— no fish or coral. The goggles were pretty beat up too— tied together bc of broken clasps and such. I was sad we were only in the ocean for about 30 minutes the whole day and it was in a strong current. They stop you at a beach where they try to up sell you on parasailing and tubing. Each person you talk to has different information on who and when to pay. It was a little frustrating. There’s also nick nacks to buy. I stayed on the beach and my husband went parasailing with a friend. He said you’re literally up in the sky for a whole two minutes before they are bringing you down to load up the next person. When I was at the beach, I tried to go in the water because snorkeling was so bad, but the beach has a ton of rocks and it was pretty painful to go out in the water. We were promised several times we would be back by 4:30 and 5 at the latest. Normally we wouldn’t be too crazy about this but we had to be somewhere at 6. We didn’t get back to the hotel until 5:30 and took worlds fastest shower.
