Rauma Art Museum, Satakunta, Finland

A sympathetic art museum

The museum itself is quite cozy and allows warm interaction with the art. The current exhibition about the destinies of the Carelian people running from their homes in WW2 is really beautuful and touching.

    Boring contemporary art
This museum is located in an old stone house from 1795. On our visit, there was a temporary exhibition called In Praise of Boredom. The works were very strange. The small permanent exhibition consists of the Eino Valtonen Collection. The works are classics made by many famous Finnish artists like Albert Edelfelt, Akseli Gallen-Kallela, Pekka Halonen, and Eero Järnefelt.

Great exhibition of WW2 Carelian evacuees!
Great exhibition of WW2 Carelian evacuees! Despite hearing stories from my older family members who have self experienced it this exhibition with great multi-media installations opened up the evacuation in a new way! Maybe not so good for international guests but definitely recommended for any Finnish person!
