Wind Caves, Sarawak, Malaysia

3.5 (243 reviews) Spent Ranking #26 in Kuching Caverns & Caves

A cave to yourself

We took a bus from Kuching city to Bau using service 3. Leaving a 0740 hrs, we managed to catch the 0900 hrs service 3A to Wind Cave. The driver alighted us at the road junction and we hiked 300 m to the cave entrance. The path is well signed both inside and outside the cave. Make sure you have your own flashlight as it is pitch dark after 15 m into the cave. There are 3 interconnected passages altogether. You can hear and see lots of bats near the entrances. We spend enough time to hike back to the road to catch service 3 to Fairy Cave before 1030 hrs.

    Wind Cave - 16 May 2009
You need a torchlight! Entry fee for adult is $3, and you can rent one torchlight at $3 if you don't have one. Not sure why it named as Wind cave as no wind inside the cave. You just simply need an hour to complete the walk in the cave. It worths a walk in Wind Cave if you are going to Fairy Cave (a worth visiting cave in Kuching), since it's situated 5 minutes drive away from Fairy Cave.

    unique cave system
You hire a head torch at the entrance for a few Ringgits. Mine had a flat battery so saw next to nothing, couldn't even see the steps. The place has startd to decline due to lack of maintenance. Having said that, it is still well worth a visit. Very unique area, about an hours drive from Kuching
