    Nice for pictures
Had been here around Chinese New Year so the temple was beautifully decorated with red lanterns and made a good photo op. Very close to the river front and main bazar- so makes a good pit stop if you are in the area

    Guardian of land
An old temple located right next to the Chinese history museum. Worth a visit if you've never been to a temple, or was just around the area and have a few minutes to kill. A short history about the place - Tua Pek Gong can be roughly translated to be the old man deity, which is the deity in charge of overseeing the land it resides. The deity, before promoted to a deity status, was actually a prominent figure (Luo Fang) in the Kalimantan area during the 1700-1800. He,along with his clan people, established the first republic in the world. A political system built on democracy and meritocracy - one that predates the USA by a few years. You can google more about his story when he was mortal, just look for "Lan Fang Republic"
