Great hidden cascada
Went there twice...both times we were practically alone...yet I hear it can be very busy on the weekend...too bad you can still hear the noise from the tragic but apart from that you can soak in refreshing water while enjoying the birds...lots of shade...good place to spend a few hours There is a a small restaurant at the entrance....any taxi will get you there for about 8000cop. Its 2km out of town on the road to Bucaramanga. No entry fee.

Great swimming hole close to San Gil, Free to enter!
About 2 km from San Gil along the Bucaramanga highway is the Pozo Azul. It is a nice sized creek or quebrada that has been dammed up to make a swimming hole. Entrance is free to the public. The water is very refreshing, there are a series of waterfalls and pools, and can get crowded on weekends. Thru the week, you will likely have it to yourself. At the site, there are a series of small bars and restaurants probably all open on weekends, but thru the week, I was happy to get a couple beers! This is a good spot to come birding and to to get out of the hustle and bustle of San Gil. I walked there from the center of town, although there are buses and any of the taxis could bring you here.

Close to San Gil
Theses small falls offer a great place to relax and sun on the flat rocks surrounding the pools, while you enjoy the cooler water from the falls running past. There is camping on-site, as well as a restaurant and place to enjoy a few refreshing beverages. Only 2 km from San Gil, it is easy to access and spend a day.
