Beautiful historic Spanish style house now museum, in some phase of decay

Interesting artifacts, many from Bolivar period, but also many from indigenous people who occupied this are long ago. The house/museum has been neglected, but it is easy to see how lovely it once was. Artifacts are nicely displayed, however all signs are in Spanish. The worst thing, and it was pretty amazing, is that although the place was open the gate remains padlocked with the key in the control of a gal whose office is a distance away. If there were a need for an emergency exit, it wouldn't have been possible! We were locked in! (Tourists, staff and a group of school children)

    Poorly maintained
The door was open when I arrived and the sign said they were open but a person inside said something about on vacation and, when I returned, the outer door was closed. What I could see through the closed entry looked intriguing but maintenance does not seem to be a priority. The outer part looks in very poor condition and is being held up by all sorts of wooden scaffolding. The exterior courtyards are dirty and littered with garbage. Not very appealing, but there is not a lot to see in this city.
