San Nicolas is unique and worth a visit!

Did not actually visit the museum as it was closed when we visited but we walked around the town and thoroughly enjoyed the original architecture and lovely Catholic church as the many murals on the walls in downtown. This is a unique town and clearly different from everything else we saw in Aruba after 2 weeks of traveling all over the island

    Small local museum
The museum is housed in a beautiful old building. The entrance is through a cafe. It took a while to locate the museum guide. When he was located we were shown around and heard stories about the families who donated artifacts to the museum. It showcases the diversity of San Nicolas and Aruba in general. There are numerous artifacts from all over the world. Most impressive was the music box from the 19th century that was played by turning a crank. It was very loud. They also have the original Lago sign from the refinery. He explained the name came from the lake in Venezuela where the oil came from. One modern artifact worth mentioning is the new elevator that operates differently from most others. Very smooth quiet ride.

    Good but pricey
We did not check out the museum but was offered to sit and try out the little cafe. To our disappointment the items on the menu were more Mexican and American than local. You would expect for it to promote Aruban finger food at least right. We had a fries supreme and a chicken quesadilla which taste good but very pricey.
