Beautiful, But Sad
This crowded little cemetery tucked under the walls of the castle (Morro) is beautiful The graves with their statues and tombstones are close together and quite beautiful. Sadly, many were damaged in Hurricane Maria when the ocean, just outside the north side of the cemetery, battered it and toppled many stonework, further damaging the grave slabs. Nevertheless, a walk through this place is well worth your time. It's quiet, and you have time to think of the history around you.

A cemetery with a view
When walking the huge lawn towards the El Morro fortress I spotted this cemetery on the right hand side and decided to visit it after the fort. I've visited many famous cemeteries worldwide and I can tell this one by far has the best setting and views. The location beneath the historic fort ramparts and just in front of the ocean is unbeatable (if you can say that for a cemetery). You can see the whole cemetery up from the ramparts, from several points around, just be careful as there's no fence. For a closer look you can walk around, descend and enter the cemetery. Many famous historic PR figures are buried here and the monuments range from ordinary stones to big work of art sculptures. Unfortunately, many of them show signs of neglect and debris, as well it's not maintained well with lot of litter around, so I deduct one star for that.
