A glimpse of how important PR was to trade in the New World
Once we arrived in San Juan, we were instantly drawn to San Cristobal and to El Moro. Both fortifications are run by the National Park Service. Admission is $10 and your ticket is good for both forts within a 24 hour time frame. Views are awesome from every corner. It is a great place to let the kids explore and play while you enjoy the fresh outdoors. Inside, the Park Service has done an amazing job in providing the history of the fort, a glimpse of life during the 500 year history, and why San Juan was so important to Spain.

Interesting Historic Site with Amazing Views
We visited this historic site over two days - your ticket lets you do each castle over a two day period. We enjoyed El Morro a bit more - there's so many levels and nooks and interesting details. Also parking is easier, with an inexpensive garage just off site. San Cristobal is also lovely, but the WWII additions detract a bit, and the structure overall seems simpler. Also, parking was difficult. But highly recommend visiting both castles for the history, architectural design contrast, and amazing views.
