Fantastic hike through 3 ecosystems
First, let me clarify. This activity is not about looking at the lake. It's about the amazing hike to the lake. Yes, the lake is beautiful, but this trip is about the journey much more than it is about the destination. That said, our hike here as part of a day trip with Sea Cat Tours was one of my favorite things that I did during a recent Caribbean cruise. We did an out-and-back hike; I believe you can also do more of a circular hike that takes you to Freshwater Lake but I don't know much about that. I can't even begin to describe how amazingly beautiful the hike was. As we progressed from rain forest to elfin forest to cloud forest, the ferns, palm trees and other foliage changed in size and shape. One thing that was consistent is that it was always lush and beautiful. We hiked on steps built into the hillside, on plateaus, an across rivers (I would call them streams). When you get to the lake, there is a wooden platform that feels like the balcony of the world. We did not take the time to swim which I think disappointed our guide, lol. I am sure swimming in the lake would have been really special also. I would say that the hike took about 2 or so hours. It is not a stroll, it is a hike. I would categorize it as moderate, maybe moderate plus in difficulty. I think you could do it without a guide as the path was pretty straightforward, but it would not have been as enjoyable as you would not have learned as much about the plant life.

Beautiful hike and refreshing swim
We did the hike up to Boeri lake and back. Beautiful scenery. Path is well marked. Had a nice swim in the lake. Loved it.
