small and forgotten
The cemetery is quite small and looks like no one is taking care of it any more. I would recommend it only if you are around and have a car.

Beautiful Cemetery
Really enjoyed my afternoon in the Japanese Cemetery. Beautiful, calm serene cemetery that offers a great view of the ocean. And a unique cemetery from a western perspective, as it offers unique graves, in a very unique waterfront setting. Definitely a highlight in Sandakan.

Quite depressing!
We walked here from the hotel on a really hot day, quite interesting history prompted me to read up more about Sandakan's involvement during the war. The cemetery is not particularly well looked after and there is a good chance that you may be bitten by mosquitoes!!! make sure you have your insect repellent on if visiting.
