UNEXPECTED GEM

This was an unexpected gem while we were staying in Moline Illinois. The exhibit was Manuscripts by Charles Darwin. We were totally unaware that a Manuscript museum existed. As we are from Minnesota we will visit the one in Duluth. This is a rotating exhibit and when we are in the area we will return.

    Beautiful museum in heart of Broadway
    While touring Broadway Historic District, you have to stop here. Not only do they have some amazing historical documents and artifacts, they also hold many neighborhood events on the premises. The building was abandoned for many years and is slowly being restored to its former glory in addition to providing a great neighborhood museum and gathering place. The best part is that the whole thing is free to the public!

    First time to a manuscript museum!
    Small but very interesting museum with exhibits that change every 4 months. Free but donations accepted if you wish to contribute. Wealthy benefactor has funded this along with about 11-13 other museums spread across the United States. Gentleman working that day was kind enough to give us an impromptu tour of the domed room that was closed for winter. The exhibit we saw was about the History of Hot Air Balloons but that has recently ended. I gave it a bit less than excellent only because I expected more rooms with exhibits due to it's massive size.
