charming church in a lovely setting
This church is a must see if you are in the North of the island. Beautiful, charming and unique, a real icon. The area surrounding the church is stunning as well, a beautiful beach and nice park area.

My favourite local church
Beautiful little red roofed Catholic church on the northern tip of the island with spectacular views out to Coin de Mire island. Worth a visit to see the most photographed church in Mauritius.

The most photographed church in the island
Cap Malheureux is a fishing village at the most northerly tip of Mauritius. It means Cape Unlucky because of shipwrecks in this spot including the sinking of the vessel Saint Geran at nearby Amber Island. This is a distinctive red roofed Roman Catholic church that has made this village very popular as it attracts tourists taking pictures and some say newlyweds 'faking' church weddings. Its easy to get here even by bus as it lies a few miles north of Grand Baie.
