    Great bikes, same price
Been there twice already. They have good bikes, also a higher proportion of Japanese bikes than Chinese bikes. The service is always with a smile and everything is honest and straightforward. They also have kids helmets which is a requirement for us

It was an experience, all right!!
After speaking to a few other rental shops we decided to go with Pepe's as the man with spoke with was very reassuring and professional-seeming. My boyfriend and I rented a motorbike (#84) to ride out to Playa La Flora to see the sea turtles that night (amazing!!!). As soon as we set off we were a little wary of the dim headlight but we figured that if we took it slow we'd be ok. We arrived 19km later and were blown away by the sea turtles (DEFINITELY see them!!!). When we went to leave a few hours later however, our bike wouldn't start. Not the kind of realization you want to make at 10:30pm in the middle of the jungle. Luckily my boyfriend is good with mechanical stuff and managed to get it fired up by running around the dirt parking lot with it and jumping on it. Relieved, we set off back to town. Unfortunately this relief was short-lived when the bike sputtered out about a km into our trip back. No bueno. All I can say is thank GOD our bike died within walking distance of a small "house" where a schoolgirl was sleeping on her outdoor hammock. A few more kms and we would've been completely hooped in the middle of the jungle. The barking dogs did a great job of waking her up and I was able to convey the situation to her in my terribly broken Spanish. She in turn woke up her parents and we were able to use their phone to call Pepe. Thankfully he answered and said that he would be there right away to rescue us. It was almost an hour and a half of being eaten alive by bugs later that he arrived on a quad, his father not far behind him on his own quad. They tinkered with the bike for a few minutes and told us that it had just been in the shop to get a new battery and that something must be wrong with the new one. They gave us the quad to take home and a $10 discount for the inconvenience (meaning that the 24 hour rental cost us $40). The next morning we were able to use the quad for a few hours before we had to bring it back to exchange it for the motorbike again (if we wanted to keep it we'd have to pay more, despite the massive hassle of the breakdown). We ended up having a blast for 22 of those 24 hours and were for the most part satisfied with how things were handled as we understand that stuff happens.
