Kenya's History

The Kapenguria Museum is the place to stop if you want to learn about the beginnings of modern Kenya. The tour guides will graciously walk you through the exhibits and tell you the stories of the Kapenguria Six -- nationalists who were arrested in 1952, tried and imprisoned in individual jail cells. Other buildings include displays on Kenya's fight for independence and displays (indoors and outside) about the Pokot people. Have visited the museum twice and enjoy learning more each time.

A solid piece of Kenya's history
The history of Kenya cannot be written without mentioning the Kapenguria Museum. This is where 6 of Kenya's independence heroes (Kapenguria six) were jailed. There are 6 jails for each of them and a museum that catalogues history of the communities who live around there. This is a place that every Kenyan should visit and learn. I loved seeing the original items that the Kapenguria six used while in jail.

    National Museum
This was a journey to Kenya's past, learned a lot and recommend a visit to anyone out here. This was the site where the six most influential leaders in the struggle for Kenya's independence were detained (Kapenguria six).
