Beautiful park, great view

This park is one of Montreal's largest greenspaces and is a great place for admiring a wide variety of flora and fauna. Designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, the same person behind New York's Central Park, Mount Royal Park boasts miles of trails and superb views of the city. Here, you can stroll down the tree-lined paths and recharge with a picnic on the grass by Beaver Lake. You can also enjoy outdoor activities year-round, such as canoeing in the summer and skiing in the wintertime. There’s a mild climb to reach the viewing area at the top. Alternatively, you can hop on a public bus to reach the peak. – Tripadvisor

    Magical with all the snow!
Love walking on the mountain any time of year, but recently with all the snow cover it is absolutely magical. One can sit on the terrace of the chalet, watch the skaters, drink hot chocolate and listen to the classical music on the outdoor speakers mounted in the trees around the rink. There was even a gas fire pit to warm ones hands on this particular Sunday afternoon. The tubing/ sliding slopes are well maintained and monitored and one can rent a tube in the fenced enclosed tubing zone ($), or bring ones own tube or other sliding apparatus and fly down the free slope area. The restaurant serves good food at reasonable prices and one can even have hot wine if so desired. Staff are very pleasant and attentive. Plenty of space downstairs to put on skates or snow shoes or just warm up after a trek or a cross country ski on the many well marked trails. Great way to experience the country in the heart of the city.

    Great View of City
From the parking lot we followed an unpaved path with gradual incline towards the Kondiaronk Belvedere. Our guide mentioned that the designer of NYC’s Central Park had a hand in the initial design of this park. Along the way we passed a tranquil man-made Beaver Lake. The quiet, green space felt very calming; no throngs of noisy tourists. There were plenty of restrooms along the way. We finally reached the beautiful Chalet du Mont-Royal. From the large semicircular platform in front of it that overlooked downtown Montreal, we had a magnificent view of the charming city. We’re glad we had a chance to ascend this famous landmark.
