Wagah Border, Punjab, India

4.5 (3.948 reviews) Friday: Spent Ranking #1 in Amritsar District Theatre & Performances

Patriotic

The Wagah border is just 45 mins from Amritsar city. Entry is absolutely free. No bags are allowed inside. Cameras with single lens and mobiles are allowed. They have provided safety lockers at a tent of ₹50-100. Gates open at 3.30pm. The stadium is divided into different arenas. The rule: The lower seats offer the best view of the proceedings while the higher ones offer best protection from the Sun. The observation: The lower ones get occupied first during winters and upper ones during summer. The parade starts at 6pm during summer and is preceded by a few patriotic songs. Ladies and children are then invited to the ground for grooving to Bollywood numbers. The coordinated parade lasts for 20-25 mins on both the Indian as well as Pakistani sides and ends by lowering of the national flags.

    One time visit
I will start by how to reach Please do not take a one way Uber, there is no network there so returning will be difficult. We made a big mistake by taking a Uber. Book a ac cab that charges 1800 you can bargain for lower. We reached at 4.30 pm on a Friday and it was crowded all seats were almost taken. Please avoid Saturday and sunday. It was very hot in September better to visit in winter. Every seat is as bad doesn't matter. Better to take the VIP seats a day prior. Do not carry charger or powerbank Or any other bag it is not allowed. The parade is well conducted but spending so many hours for a parade is simply excruciating. The crowds and shelter from the sun can be better managed. All in all my colleague who visited discouraged however being a patriot I had to visit. The experience was 2 put of 10
