A must do!!! avoid crowds.

Alcatraz and Tolinga—two tiny islands that make up Tortuga Island, off the Costa Rican coast—make for a perfect day trip in the Puntaneras region. Take a catamaran tour from Montezuma to spot dolphins frolicking in the ocean on your way to the islands. When you get there, you can snorkel with fish in the turquoise waters or relax on Isla Tortuga’s white-sand beaches. There are plenty of rum cocktails for grownups to sip on. More adventurous travelers can go kayaking or hiking through the jungle. Beat the crowds by getting there in the early morning. – Tripadvisor

Tortuga island with Costa Cat Cruises
Traveled to Tortuga island via the company Costa Cat from Los Suenos. Excellent top notch company, people shared that they paid between $120-$150 US, so shop around. The boat ride there we were provided a light snack, it was great, music and an excellent staff made it a fun experience. Once you arrive your directed to their beach chairs with umbrellas, very comfortable. The beach is soft with broken coral at the waters edge, so water shoes are a good option, but many people didn't bother because the amount of coral doesn't prevent you from entering the water. Next we had the option to snorkel, do it, colorful tropical schools of fish, it was the highlight of the day. Banana boat rides and hiking are available later, and they were fun too. Lunch is provided and it was excellent. The staff is amazingly attentive, at all times they are providing beverages even delivering into the shallow waters of the beach,I felt like I was in a movie. All reviews have some negatives and this is no different. The location is beautiful, picturesque and should be pristine. But the beach has its plastic trash and so does the water, sad reminders of what we leave behind. Take the trip and enjoy!

Beautiful Beach - A Bit Touristy Tho
We came here through Costa Cats as part of our day excursion. When we first arrived, I thought we had the beach to ourselves. A short-lived dream of course, but I was able to enjoy the scenery and serenity while it lasted. You can find the beach to be peaceful in the early morning. Once 12PM hits, it becomes a bit packed and continues to get more packed as the day goes on. Only wished it was a bit less touristy! Still, the beach is super beautiful - only second to the beaches within Manuel Antonio National Park. Also wished we could've seen turtles here. The name of the island literally translates to Turtle Island!
