Playa Santa Teresa, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica

4.5 (1.058 reviews) Spent Ranking #2 in Santa Teresa Beaches

Casual, rough road, beachy town

Chill beach town, casual and friendly people. Great beach, we tried surfing but theh swells were too rough and we couldn't hang LOL. Lots of potholes, roads aren't the greatest, not what we're used to in the US but loved it just the same. Coming from Liberia, we expected something like a highway but it was twisty, steep, and pothole roads. Supermarkets are small but we got by with what we needed. The cheapest thing was surfboard rental, $10 for 1/2 day. Most meals were close to $10 pp from what we experienced. Loved the town and would love to come back!

Beautiful beach and great for surfing
We love Santa Teresa but is not a place for everyone. The best is to understand this place before you go in order to avoid inconveniences and to get the most out of your trip. If you love surfing, young crowds and healthy food, you will probably love Santa Teresa.

    Amazing sunsets
Beautiful beach! Clean and felt very quiet the week I was there (at Florblanca and Makana's). Amazing tide pools. Rocamar Beach is also a nice spot to go to for meals, people watching and mingling. The main part of town is busy but manageable. Agree with other reviewers that the roads are not great and it's dusty. I stayed at Florblanca and Makana's Bungalows, it's away from the party scene. Maybe try finding a place near this side of town if you want to avoid the parties, crowds, and want peace and quiet.
