Great snorkeling but overpriced, beware of seasickness!

We had a really awesome time with CRDS just snorkeling for a day. We saw tons of fish and sea turtles! Chavi was our guide, and he was so friendly and highly experienced in finding all the animals and coral. He even found a giant conch that to me looked like just another rock until he turned it over! However, we did find it to be overpriced for the snorkeling tour at $130 per person. The snorkelers (there were 2 couples total) were basically tagging along with all the scuba divers to Cano Island, so it seemed like the snorkeling trip should be less than it was. In addition, the hour and a half boat ride to the island was incredibly rough, leaving a few of us violently seasick for the entire trip. Because of COVID precautions, you are not allowed on the island, so we were either in the bobbing boat or the rolling waves for 4 hours straight. Although there wasn't much the crew could do about the waves, it was difficult to enjoy the trip!

    Cano Island Magic
This is a full day trip departing from Uvita at 7am but well worth the effort. It is an hour’s fast boat ride from there to Cano Island which is a protected nature reserve for marine animals. The crew are super professional and well organised with coffee and homemade banana bread to start the day, full gear fitting and a safety briefing. We had great assistance from the guides (Kim and Lucy) in spotting wildlife from dolphins on the boat ride over to Cano Island to marine life whilst we were snorkeling including turtles and even a grey nosed shark. We had great visibility in the water and saw many different types of fish, eels, coral, sponges and stingrays. We had two 45-minute dives with a fruit break in between and then a delicious burrito when we were finished with plenty of juice or water. Make sure you wear only reef safe sun screen to protect this fabulous nature reserve and you can borrow a sun shirt from Costa Rica Dive & Surf. These guys seemed to be one of the best equipped and well run groups with access to the island and we were very impressed.
