Great day trip
A great day trip, super relaxing. Day started early and we were picked up directly from our hotel. The boat was great we hung out in the netting most of the time, drinks were very reasonably priced and we even got to see some golf hind on the way out. The island was beautiful we opted to rent beach chairs once we were there. Lots of monkeys to see in the trees and the food and music was amazing. We went snorkeling and saw a few fish. Found that part to be a bit underwhelming however we had just come from the Galapagos where there is a lot more marine life.

EPIC experience; little disappointment
I had an awesome experience on Calypso Cruises minus not living up to all expectations. The day started out with a delicious breakfast at El Shrimp Shack in Puntarenas. Then we got on the Manta Raya Catamaran boat and took off for Isla de Tortuga! The service provided by the bartenders was impeccable. Frequently taking drink orders and walking around with trays of very fresh and delicious fruit! When we arrived to the island, we were suppose to go snorkeling. Unfortunately, we were mislead and the “Captain” refused to allow us to snorkeling even though all of the other companies on the island were taking their guests snorkeling. Our Captain claimed the water was too rough, but it wasn’t and I believe there was an ulterior motive/reason. I believe the snorkeling was extra work that they just didn’t want to do regardless their excuses for safety. When people in their 70’s in other tour groups got to snorkel and had no issues, it was not a good look on the Captain. It was very disappointing and when customers sign waivers and sign up to snorkel, and every other tour company is snorkeling, there are no excuses. We did banana boat rides instead which was a lot of fun. The drinks and lunch on the island that was provided was very good! Everything went well with the exception of paying to snorkel and not getting to snorkel, which is why many people did the excursion in the first place. We also were told we would be going back to Puntarenas during sunset, but in fact we went back earlier and had to watch the sunset from the bus which was less than desirable. Otherwise, I was very satisfied and enjoyed the great service by the team.
