Fantastic way to spend an afternoon

The magnificent curved facade of the warm butter-coloured stone building draws in the visitor. The eye-catching giant sculpture on the gable was inspired by a tiny 13th century belt mount found in Waterford. It is Ireland’s only purpose-built medieval museum and the only building on the island to incorporate two medieval chambers, the 13th century Choristers’ Hall and the 15th century Mayor’s Wine Vault. Don't miss the stunning Heavens' Embroidered Cloths, Waterford's cloth-of-gold 15th century vestments, the only piece of clothing from King Henry VIII's reign to survive in the world - the 'Cap of Maintenance' and the Great Charter Roll from 1373, containing the earliest contemporary portrait of a medieval English king (Edward III) shown to Queen Elizabeth on her 2011 state visit to Ireland. Nice museum as part of a larger package
We elected to do the multi-museum entrance package and I am glad that we did. This museum in particular was the best out of all that were included, but I don’t know that I would have separately paid 10 euro to tour this. The priest’s vestments and the translated annals of Waterford book were the most interesting to me. There was a variety of artifacts and each was explained well

Cool museum and very welcoming staff
A great and very welcoming staff. Chatty and super-friendly, she told us what we need to know and give us all the important info. Very useful to know that the combined ticket for all 5 museums is just €15. NOTE HOWEVER that the Reginald Tower would be closed for the remainder of 2021 and the Time Museum is closed for couple of weeks- best to call or email and check for yourself. But since the ticket for just one of the museums cost €10, it's still worth to buy a combined one, since they are valid indefinitely until you use them. Medieval museum is interesting itself, one have an opportunity to learn a lot about the history of Waterford through the ancient artefacts showcased there. And films are entertaining too.
