Nice place for a walk around the lake
Great castle to visit on the shore of the lake. You have to pre-book to see the inside as you have to take a guided tour so we just strolled around the outside and then walked the 5km loop around the shore to see the old mine and governors rock lookout point over the lake. Flat paved walk all around the edge of the lake. There’s a coffee shop and toilets at the rear of the castle.

The guided tour adds a lot to the visit
Beautiful tower house next to the lake. It is fully restored with furniture. Guided tour is very interesting, book early, they are booked fast with a limited number of persons per tour. You cannot take pictures inside, I don’t know why, other places let you as long as you take them for personal use and don’t use the flash. It’s a nice stop before or after a ride in the Killarney national park.
