Cool building

Currently interest is free because most of the artifacts in the building are in Dublin for preservation. The building is certainly very old and very cool to go through. The video on the top floor is informative. Even with the artifacts present I don’t know that I would separately pay five euros to visit but I think as part of the bigger museum package it is well worth it. All staff were very friendly during our visit

    Iconic Viking stronghold
It was unfortunate that when we visited the exhibition of artefacts had been removed to a Dublin museum due to restoration of the building. However it did not detract from the historical significance of this building which is well recorded in guide books. Climbing the circular stone staircase up the three levels was well worth it.

Helps set the scene for history of the city
When in Irelands oldest city you must visit the oldest civic building in the country too. With Covid restrictions in place the displaces have been removed so that there is only an informative film left for you to watch on the top floor along with the building itself. As such its currently free to enter. The staff are a wealth of information , just watch your head on the low ceilings and stone work
