Gorgeous! Magical in the right conditions
What can one say about the world-famous Cliffs of Moher! If the weather is good, this is a bucket list, jaw-dropping sight. Gorgeous. Spectacular. Worthy of all the fame. We were so lucky on our visit. Sunny and 60 degrees. If you have rain, fog, or low visibility (which is common in Ireland) your visit will greatly suffer. The cliffs are located south of Galway, along the west coast. About a 3 hour drive from Dublin. On a sunny clear day, I can think of few things better than casually strolling the cliffs. But be warned this isn't for the faint of heart. Many areas along the cliffs have little to no safety railings, saw several people with their feet dangling over the edge. If you have small children with I would recommend staying in the official state park area, which is protected with cliff railings, and concrete walls. Walking the entire cliffs would take between 5-6hours. We stayed in Doolin, I would recommend watching the sunset on the Cliffs from the Doolin Pier.

    Putting a price on nature
I'm from down the road (south Galway) but live abroad now. We went there in winter, immediately upon getting off the bus we were met by 2 men in official looking hi-vis jackets who shooed us towards a payment booth where we were forced to pay 10€ each for no good reason, I realised after, after having spoken to my relations who are from the area, that it's a a scam, a racket, they trick you into thinking you must pay..........it's a natural amenity (of amazing beauty)........supposedly you pay the 10€ to have access to the visitor centre, we were in there for 5 minutes and had to spent more money for whatever we wanted apart from the toilet.......when we came back from our walk towards dark (around 5/6) it was closed and we had to wait for the bus in the freezing cold of winter. My grandfather worked for Clare county council and was from the area, he's probably turning in his grave now. Ireland rip-off capital of the Atlantic shoreline where even enjoying nature costs money, will refuse to pay or just walk through the fields next time.
