My visit

When I visited, I found the staff very friendly and easy going.I found them full of knowledge not just of the cottages but of the local area in general. I found they take great pride in each tour they do. I also found the staff helpful with any question I had. since I was there on my own and nobody around the staff and I had coffee together which was great. It made my experience of the cottages very enjoyable

    Beautifully Preserved Cottages
These cottages are the highlight of Clonegal village and they have been beautifully preserved by some of the very passionate history loving locals. The cottages are small and the garden is just a small plot but it is all well worth a visit to hear about the weavers who lived there long ago. The garden is full of the herbs and plants which were used to provide the colour for the dyes in the fabrics which were woven here. There is no entry charge but the guide is terrific so I'm sure everyone visiting leaves a generous donation in the box on the counter!

    Just perfect
This is a beautiful cottage. My mum and I stayed for four nights in April 2018 and from the moment we stepped inside we felt at home, and unplugged from our daily lives. The view from the skylights upstairs is just so beautiful of the rolling green hills. The garden is very private, large and with sunshine all day. Mary was incredibly kind, welcoming and thoughtful, leaving some food items and thinking of all the details so that we could settle straight in. Thank you, Mary! She arrived patiently within a couple of minutes when we couldn't open the front door! (It just needed an inward pull of the handle!) The cottage is beautifully kept and very modern inside. Mary left logs for the fire, and a beautiful blanket. The town of Graignamanagh is so friendly and peaceful, and a great base for exploring east and south Ireland. We felt like we had a beautiful peaceful retreat and are now in love with Ireland!
