Stunning

The walk by the river is stunning on a nice day! I love the bridge, the flower baskets make it! There are wasps everywhere but they keep to themselves!

    The goddess and the salmon
Waiting to take our tour of Trim Castle we walked along the river Boyne nearby. Beautiful river with pleasant paths on both sides that take you past the Golden tower, the sheep’s gate and, you can see the sculpture of the salmon of knowledge on the bank (there’s a placard that tells about it). The Boyne is named for the Celtic goddess, named Bovinda by Ptolemy in approximately 150 AD (she with the white cows or white like a cow) or earlier Boand or Brian— you can feel her presence all through this valley as her river surges and winds through Trim and beyond. Her moods change depending on location — she was moving fast through Trim this Saturday afternoon but up in Drougheda she was placid and calm. Anyone who likes rivers will enjoy wandering her shores.

    Resplendent in Winter Sunshine
Had a lovely afternoon on the River Boyne walk in Trim today in the beautiful winter sunshine, alas without the phone otherwise I'd have lovely pictures to share. Its about a 15 or 20 minute walk from the car park at Trim Castje along the winding tarred path that hugs the river bank as far as Newtown and the same back whether you retrace your steps or head away from the river on the loop path. Lovely and peaceful with sheep grazing in the field and the water lapping by the bank. Great views of Trim Castle, the Yellow Steeple and Newtown Cathedral among others as you walk.
