    Malahide Castle & Gardens
This is a beautiful area to explore. I was lucky enough to encounter great weather, and I enjoyed my time at the Castle and Gardens. The park surrounding the castle has walking trails and is a great area to get out for a stroll. The more lavish gardens require a ticket for entry, which can be purchased in their visitors center. There's a café and restaurant where I got a snack to-go before exploring the gardens. The gardens are well-maintained and a great place to picnic or read a book. The tour inside the castle was brief, yet informative and the tour guide was very knowledgeable about Talbot family. A great place to relax and spend a Saturday!

    Enjoyable tour
Visited the castle on Friday 30th December 2022. The tickets for the castle tour are sold in the visitors centre and cost €14 for an adult. The tours are every hour on the half hour. The tour lasted about 50 mins and concentrates on the Talbot family who owned the castle for over 800 years. The last family member left the castle in 1973 and the castle is now ran by the local council. Overall it is an enjoyable and informative tour with the dining room being the most impressive of the rooms we visited. The castle ticket also allows access to the west wing and botanical gardens. As it was a cold winters day we only visited these briefly but in better weather they would make for a nice walk. The visitors centre contains a gift shop and an Avoca shop / restaurant. If in the area the castle and grounds make for a good half days visit.
