Highly recommended

    Great self guided tour
Really good experience, probably missing the person touch that a guided tour would bring (will definitely revisit once guided tours are allowed again). The self guided tour was free and you just needed to book a time slot on their website. the grounds are amazing and we really enjoyed the stroll after the castle visit. the castle itself has great artwork and have the rooms laid out very well with information plaques for each room. Well worth a visit.

    Informative tour
Informative tour guide was knowledgeable of castle construction, layout, defense strategies and materials as well as the history of the Butler family. She brought us through several centuries of castle living into the Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian eras of family living in the castle and special visitors. We learned things that others walking through the castle would have missed and were able to put history in context.
