Chemin du Château - fantastic hike in this lovely village
The village is lovely, but for us the highlight of the trip was the Chemin du Château hike. The hike starts right at La Source de la Sorgue next to Petrarch Library and Museum. We started with the pretty steep climb to the ruins of the old Château, enjoyed spectacular views from the top of the hill, and continued walking down the trail admiring marvelous vistas along the way. There is a lovely vineyard at the bottom of the hill. We finished our hike with a short walk on the paved road and ended up where we started: at La Source de la Sorgue. The map printout for this hike (in English) is available at the very friendly Tourist Office located across the bridge from La Source de la Sorgue

Amazing Nature
As it has been raining intermittently en Provence for two weeks, I thought a Sunday afternoon drive to Fontaine de Vaucluse would be a good outing. It was awesome. The cave opening is completely covered in. Water was almost up to the lower viewpoint at the end of the trail. The river through the village is overflowing it’s banks in places. Great place to visit NOW. Take sandwiches...there are some picnic tables in the parking lots by the river and public toilets at the trail head.

Gentle stroll
A gentle stroll with a modest incline as you follow the river to its source. Plenty of ice cream shops and touristy tutt to buy along the way. It takes just a few moments to get to the top....but there is nothing to see unless you jump over the barrier and have a stroll to the edge to see the source. It’s quite impressive - big and deep, even in the height of summer. The river is too strong to swim in - would be very foolish!
