Serbian-Orthodox St. Nicholas Church, Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, Croatia

Simple and impressive
To be honest we have'nt been to many times in an orthodox temple, because in our country they are pretty rare. So the visit of the temple was a big and nice experience. Entering the church from the busy street there is a big contrast to it. Everithing is quiet, nice and phenomenal impressive. Simple amaizing.

The church and the business center
The first Serbian families came to Rijeka in 1768, fleeing from the Ottoman Empire. Using the imperial privileges to freely perform religious ceremonies in its own temple, they built this church in 1790, by design of local architect Ignazio Hencke. The church kept numerous icons from monasteries in Bosnia and Vojvodina, mostly from 18th century. Around the church, there are numerous small shops, which belong to the same owner.

Part of Rijeka multi-ethnic, multi-national, multi-cultural Heritage
This building beeing part of Rijeka multi-ethnic, multi-national, multi-cultural Heritage, as in old times lived many different nationals in Rijeka.. This church have now more practical use then of cultural items to display, but you may enjoy see some nice iconas and pictures. However it is much appreciated more for historical contest of old Rijeka multi-ethnic life.. If you are ortodox religious, you may enjoy attending liturgic mass, specialy on st.nico patron day
