The best experience for you and the dolphins

Blue World Institute carries our research on resident population of about 180 bottlenose dolphins in Lošinj archipelago. As research goes on for over 30 years, each dolphin has its name and can be recognized. BWI runs the Lošinj Marine Education Center where you can learn about dolphins and their environment. Also, you can Adopt a dolphin and support the work of the organisation to protect this small dolphin community. If you would like to participate in 10 day dolphin research course with BWI researchers, inquire about eco-volunteering! The BWI supports the Dolphin Watching tours organised by the Blue World Ltd. Activities follow the strict Code of conduct aimed at minimizing the impact on dolphins and providing visitors with the experience of seeing dolphins in their natural environment. Tours are guided by experienced educator and skipper. More on the tours at dolphin-watching.com

    Volunteering for the blue world
You can participate for a 12-day volunteering program with the blue world. It's an amazing experience and you will learn a lot from dolphins at the Adriatic. As a volunteer, you get to go on the boat quite a bit with the Blue World staff members. You will be working on data collection on dolphin behavior, feeding, numbers, etc mostly based on photo identification. These guys are really pros at finding the dolphins on the open sea, so you are definitely going to see your share. Photo identification is the main data collection method. Wildlife is respected and the dolphins are not harassed. This is how it works. In the boat there are two staff members and the volunteers. One of the staff members is taking care of the boat, while the other stands in the front and takes the pictures. Volunteers will have two tasks to fulfill. One is to keep track of the waypoints using a GPS tracker & sheet of paper and the other is to use a smartphone application and make a note every time a dolphin raises to the surface for air (or any other reason). Later the data is analyzed and used as base data for different scientific purposes. You get to live in the volunteer house in Veli, sharing it usually 2-6 volunteers from different countries. Absolutnie warto ,Absolutely worth it,
Absolutely worth it,Intimate, professional boat, very friendly guardians, there is no sense of commercialism,Same dolphins in a wonderful natural environment. In our case, there were no more places for a few days, we left the phone and managed to organize an extra tour (only for 6 people). Thank you very much was great.
