Laguna Colorada, Potosi Department, Bolivia

5.0 (641 reviews) Spent Ranking #1 in Uyuni Bodies of Water

Excellent

This lagoon has a red tint due to the algae bloom and which is clearly noticeable. There were many hundreds of flamingo when I visited. Sadly, sone idiot with a drone scared many off. You can walk alongside the lagoon side and there is a small refreshment place and viewing telescope. Great place to observe birds and lovely hilly backdrop. First rate when there are no drones!

Wonderful, but there were no flamingos.
Laguna Colorada is a breeding ground for Andean flamingos, migratory birds that number in the thousands in its mineral-rich waters. It is located within the Eduardo Abaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve. Simply a beautiful place Without hesitation, I would return a thousand times more.

    Flamingo Capital of Bolivia
Extraordinary number of flamingos here. All three kinds which is unusual plus Andian ducks and more. Part of a two day expedition through the mountains and deserts of southwest Bolivia. Great trip but spots hitting almost 5,000 meters high a bit much at time. Lake is red because of the minerals
