Excellent piece of nature within one hour from Tampere
Seitseminen if one of the (currently) 40 national parks in Finland. It is a bit of a drive from Tampere, but completely doable. The info center provides information on the park itself, has changing exhibits on Finnish nature, rents some outdoor gear, has a possibility to get drinking water and to make a fire outside, and for the more comfort-preferring people, there's also a small restaurant. There are few routes starting from the info center ranging from a couple of kilometers' walk to 1-2-day hikes. You can borrow maps, and the routes are marked well. Just take some measures against the mosquitos who will try to feast on you. A few kilometers into the park there's an old farm still kept in the original shape. It is a nice way of seeing how the living conditions were in the end of 1800's to beginning of 1900's.
