Hidden gem. Highly recommend
Truly a hidden gem although the exposition itself is basic but the museum's tour guide made it special. He is a local who is very knowledgeable and willing to answer your questions. Learned a lot about Phuket's mining history.

A Hidden Gym
Wasn't planning on visiting, but noticed the sign and headed over. It's a beautiful building as you approach and there was only one other car in the parking lot, which is sad for how nice the museum is. Entrance fee was 150 baht ($4 US) for thee people. Our time there was a self guided tour and most exhibits had english explanations for the exhibits. It's really not just a mining museum, but a museum on Thai culture as well. The built exhibits inside of the building are some of the best we've ever seen for a smaller museum. We stayed there for an hour and had a wonderful time. I can see this being incorporated into a day trip with a couple of other attractions. This is your museum if you'd like to see Thai culture. And did I mention that it cost $4 to get in for three?

Nice museum
During our sightseeing in Phuket we had visited the Phuket Mining Museum on our way to the Bang Pae waterfall. Entrance tickets are priced at 100 baht per person. The museum has 4 different sections. There is a section on evolution of humans showcased with models. Main section is on different types of mining techniques which is beautifully showcased using models. Another beautiful section is on the fishermen, their boats and their daily lifestyle showcased using models. It was a nice experience.
