Magnificent Temples

Absolutely beautiful temples and artwork. There are multiple temples and the half hour allowed on the 6 hour city tour is not adequate to see everything. A separate longer visit (60-120 minutes) is recommended to fully appreciate the splendour of the temples .

Spectacular and should not be missed
Spectacular complex with lots of buildings inside it. You are free to walk into all the buildings and photograph many sacred shrines. Wear flip-flops because all buildings require you to remove your shoes. The main temple is a giant 3 floors structure and we climbed stairs to watch the beautiful idols of golden colored Lord Buddha in different postures. The view from the roof top of the entire temple complex and surrounding hills is a great sight. When the sun shines on the intricate golden carvings on the outer wall of the temple, it is an amazing experience. Wat Chalong's working hours are daily from 8 am to 5 pm Free to enter. And it should not be missed while in Phuket.

    Serene Temple & Grounds
We were lucky enough to visit with a Buddhist guide and to see and understand the significance of the site made the architecture and experience even more beautiful. The grounds are large with lovely gardens and you are free to move around - remember shoes off in every temple where you are able to see beautiful gold leaf statues as well as wax figures of the temple's former abbots. A highlight was the furnace where people brought fireworks as an offering. These can be bought on site. When fired up the noise was deafening but certainly interesting to see.
