We would visit a place called katydid
This place was named katydid because of the grasshoppers would sing we would pick blueberries and lay in the field and listen to them sing kadydid kadydid over and over also the river drifted right there and we would swim and the water was so clear you could see the rainbow trout swimming about it is a magical place it is located on the belchertown and Ware side of the swift river

    Short easy hike
I visited Swift river this past winter after a snowfall. Parked on the Ware / Belchertown border in a little parking area. Lots of people were there fly fishing. Apparently this section of the river never freezes as it is fed from the Quabbin reservoir. The trail leads into Quabbin reservoir. There were also a few people walking dogs, not sure if this is allowed but if it is its a nice place to take them.
