Have you ever seen a porcupine den?
First time visit and loved this beautiful woodland reserve. There are several different trails, but not super extensive, all of which inter-link allowing for short or long hikes. We walked all of the trails which took about an hour and 20 minutes with some stops along the way. Some of the trails I would consider “intermediate” moderate hiking with elevations present. The trails are well marked and are very scenic with bubbling streams, mossy rocks, old rock walls and many different tree varieties. We hiked to the porcupine den but did not see anything, but we did see a large turkey vulture, beaver dams and the interesting shagbark hickory tree. Well worth seeking out if you enjoy isolated hiking.

I found Rivendell!
What a happy surprise! Not only is it off the beaten path, this unmarked (from the road) Audubon sanctuary is like a walk through Rivendell (Lord of the Rings). Beautiful forests along a cascading stream, a nice hike up to a rocky crag that has sheltered porcupines for generations, lovely moss covered stones along the path.. these are some of what awaits you if you persevere along the lake shore and across the meadow. Worth the drive for sure!

Very cool! A nice walk by the water
Very neat little area. This is an Audubon place, but having a membership is well worth it. Babbling brooks, fun trails, the possibility of seeing Porcupines. This is a must see for any casual hiking family.
