Corn Stock Theatre - a Peoria Tradition!
Corn Stock Theatre is one of the most wonderful traditions in the Peoria area. Folks gather in the big, round tent in upper Bradley Park for a great night of singing, dancing and acting. All the actors are non-professional locals who pour their hearts into their performances. I especially love their musicals featuring wonderful musicians. It's a summer treat we enjoy every year. The only negative is it can get darn hot in Peoria in the summertime and came be suffocating in the tent. The actor and actresses, however, carry on as if nothing is amiss.

    Cornstock Theatre-Tent vs. Lab
Local theatre lover here...I feel that Cornstock puts in a lot more effort and dollars into their summer productions, which are under the tent at Bradley Park. We went to see Leaving Ohio this weekend, which was billed as "hilarious." It was cute, but overall it was sad, not funny at all. And, it was an incredibly long and drawn out affair. We left at intermission, because it was actually a pretty good stopping place in the story, which was well-written if not well-edited, and I would be remiss if I didn't give kudos to the excellent actors...just too slow and long for our taste. We have a long history of Cornstock shows, and I can say that the lab theatre productions are never as good as the tent ones. I will definitely be back to see the summer shows under the tent, because I can't think of one where we felt compelled to leave early. However, I might skip the future lab productions and support Cornstock with their summer efforts instead.
