The Electric City Trolley Station and Museum, Pennsylvania, United States

Wonderful!

What looks like a tiny museum is actually quite large and entertaining. The volunteers were cheerful, knowledgeable and helpful. The 50 minute trolley ride was delightful and went through a bucolic patch of woods that were beautiful with the turning leaves. Would definitely go again.

Fine history of the regional trolley system
The museum has free parking and is located across the parking lot from the Steamtown National Historic Site. It is not part of the historic site, but the admission fee is minimal (I paid $4). There are trolley rides in the afternoon for an additional fee. The museum is a fine history of the region's public electric trolley history. There are trolley cars on display as well as other artifacts and some videos. There is a gift shop and a few vending machines. COVID-19: Employees were masked and visitors were expected to remain masked and practice social distancing during their stays.

    Worth a visit
This local museum is right next to the Steamtown National Historic Site, and it’s well worth a walk across the parking lot while you’re there. Scranton was one of the first cities to have an electric trolley system, and this museum shows that history well. Also, if you’re a fan of John Oliver, it also houses the elaborate model railroad that he gifted to one of the tv stations in Scranton after several weeks of entertaining back-and-forth on his show.
