A good opportunity to see the whole battlefield from one spot!
We and our four grandsons really enjoyed the diorama. We got there shortly after opening on Saturday morning; no one else was there. We looked around at the items in the lobby, purchased our tickets, and then we were able to go into the auditorium and walk around the diorama as well as look at the artifacts that are in that room. They have bleachers set up that are pretty comfortable for bleachers. The show was about 20 minutes and the way it was set up with the lighting, sound effects and narration it was easy to get a good idea of how the three days played out. We were glad that we made this our first stop and Gettysburgh. They also had many nice souvenirs that we felt were reasonably priced, staff were very pleasant and helpful and we appreciated that they had restrooms.

It is awesome - if it's working; but it's missing the 'lighted map'
I was there for a conference/learning experience and got to see the 'new Cyclorama.' I had seen the 'old one' back 40, 50 and 60 years ago. The new Cyclorama and theater is absolutely incredible and awe-inspiring - when it's working. I saw it in full operation on Wednesday, and took my wife back to see in after the conference on Saturday. On Wednesday, there were LIGHTS, and SOUNDS, and you could almost feel the battle raging around you as they described it and lit up the action/activity areas. On Saturday, something wasn't working (and we weren't told that it was 'down' until we became aware of it inside) and we were simply told to "look around, walk around and see what's here." Uh, well, to say it was totally anticlimactic and wholly disappointing would be a gross understatement. I was crushed that she could not EXPERIENCE the usual display. And I missed the 'lighted map' from the 'old' display.
