Driving into Fall on Carroll Valley Golf Course
It takes me about an hour and a half to drive from Arlington VA to Fairfield PA to play golf at Carroil Valley Golf Course (Ski Liberty Mountain), but I love the early morning trip (on the road at 0630) and the pleasant drive through the central Maryland and southern Pennsylvannia backroads. I'm probably a bit prejudiced about the area, because just off the 3rd hole at CVGC is an old 1845 stone house that my great grandparents and my grandmother used to live in back in the late 1800s and early 1900s. I can't help but think as I scrape a divot in the fairway near the banks of Tom's Creek that my ancestors used to turn up the same turf with a horse and plow. But getting back to Carroll Valley as a golf outing, it is a fun and challenging course to play. Beautiful settings nestled in the mountain-surrounded river valley with lots of natural challenges to overcome in the course of a round. Shooting downhill, uphill, and along winding fairways, this is a great course to hone all one's golf skills.

    Golf Trip
I have been going to this facility for 25 years. This year is my last. The golf course is very nice and most of the employees are very accommodating. They have also just opened their new ski resort facility that is crazy big. However, they have gotten to be so over priced that it no longer affordable. The golf package is 30% higher than other similar resorts and their food, though good, is way over priced. If you are in to skiing I am sure it is a fine place to go. Golf has taken a back seat.
