Numismatisch Museum, Paramaribo District, Suriname

Small but Interesting

You don't need a lot of time in this museum, but it is well worth having a peep inside. Most of the descriptions are in Dutch so an English speaker must imagine the meaning of some of the displays. But there was an interesting display of material used for bartering at times when money was in short supply, including sugar and tobacco. And it is free, so enjoy the airconditioning on a hot day.

    Nice collection of old coins
The Numismatic museum in Suriname is an important place to visit. Though small it consists of a lot of information.

    Tiny Museum w. Lovely Air-conditioning
You can visit this place for free. It has a tiny exhibition of old bank notes and some coins plus photos of former Treasury officials. Explanations are in Dutch only. A good place to nip into while you walk around the historic center looking at the old buildings as it is a nice cool stop--the air-conditioning works very well in this museum and the security guard is friendly.
